Actor Hrithik Roshan can’t stop raving about Katrina Kaif’s performance in Agneepath item number Chikni Chameli…. Known to be an exceptional dancer himself, Hrithik states that the song’s dance routine comprised very tough steps, but Katrina’s dedication helped her
bring them out accurately.
“Whatever you see in the promo is five per cent of the full song. After Madhuri and Ash, now it’s Katrina. I always knew that she is a good dancer, but didn’t know that she was so good,” says Hrithik, who essays the iconic character Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, immortalised by Amitabh Bachchan in the 1990 original directed by Mukul Anand.
Hrithik was also surprised by how Katrina, who was born and brought up in the west, got her desi moves right.
“They are very difficult steps. She has come from UK and doing a Mungra… kind of a dance; it’s not that easy. There is so much of dedication,” he says.
Prod him about whether he too wanted to be a part of the item number and he says, “Before the shoot of the film started, I had thought that if such a song has been conceptualised, and I am around, then people will expect me to take the floor and match steps with her. But after seeing her rehearsals, I felt it’s better to stay away from the number.”
Directed by debutant Karan Malhotra, Agneepath is set to hit theatres on January 26.
